SIR – I could not believe the report that the Tory MP Mark Garnier could be so insensitive to the feelings of the majority of his constituents (County MP slammed for attending bird hunt party, December 6).
Animal charities are supported by millions of people and they do not expect to see a representative of the government blowing innocent birds out of the sky for pleasure.
The majority of the public made clear their views on fox hunting and it is hoped that Mr Garnier’s chosen ‘sport’ will go the same way and be abolished.
Clay shooting is just as exciting and provides employment.
The only people to suffer from the stopping of this ‘sport’ are the landed gentry and their hangers-on, who have nothing better to do with their time and money.
