THE Bluebell Farm is one of those pub's you can easily drive past and miss, but I found it to be well worth the visit.

Popping in on a Friday lunchtime as soon as I walked in I noticed there was a welcoming, family friendly atmosphere.

I grabbed a seat in the corner and quickly selected that pub favourite of fish and chips from a wide choice on the menu. Pub Spy could easily see why this place is a family favourite, as it serves food all day and has a carvery, a good kids menu, and a wide choice of desserts.

There is even a festive menu, for those already well in the Christmas spirit.

At the bar I was disappointed to find there was a queue as it had swiftly become a busy Friday lunchtime, with the bar's phone ringing, and even worse only one member of staff on. However they were quick in serving me and after a couple of minutes wait the friendly bar man took my order.

From the large choice of drinks, I went for a Cools Light shandy - as I had driven to the pub and took advantage of the large car park that is also used by KFC customers at the Nunnery Park development just off the A4440.

I selected a seat and there was a lots to chose from as it is so spacious, and within 15 minutes the food was on my table. At the price I'd paid, £7.49, and having ordered a small cod and chips I wasn't sure what to expect but I have to give credit where its due because the fish was tasty and a large size and there was a good portion of chips on the plate.

A friendly member of staff also took the time to ask if everything was fine with the well cooked meal - a nice thing I always like to see from staff in pubs and restaurants.

While I was tucking in it gave me a chance to check out the pub a little more and although the Bluebell has usual pub chain decor - as the pub is part of the Farmhouse Inns group - it is bright, clean, and on the walls are interesting items.

I noticed colourful art, as well Worcester related pictures, including of Warndon.

The pub has also obviously been gearing up for Christmas with decorations out, including wreaths on doors and around windows, and a large tree not far away from the bar. The background music was on at that perfect volume so that you could have a conversation and still hear it, and playing was a mix of everything from pop (Olly Murs and Michael Jackson), to Indie (Coldplay), to Christmas tunes, (that old favourite Frosty the Snowmen).

Although the pub was not packed when I popped in, I can imagine it gets particular busy at weekends, with family's bringing kids to enjoy the indoor kids zone this time of year.

Before I left I took a quick trip to the toilets and they appear to have regular inspections, as they were clean and tidy, and much better than many I have seen from many on my travels.

With the meal costing £7.49, and the drink at £3.50, for just over £10 in total you have to say this was a good value lunchtime meal. Overall the pub is warm, friendly, more than just a chain pub, and as you can't fault the prices I would recommend it.
