More car owners are reporting problems with their vehicles after filling up with diesel at a Tesco garage in Worcester.

A number of motorists have found faults with their vehicles since buying diesel from the Tesco fuel station in Mill Wood Drive, Warndon.

Tesco has admitted that there was "an isolated case of water in one of the diesel storage tanks at our Worcester Warndon Superstore".

Now more motorists have told the Worcester News that they believe their vehicle was affected, with November 28 believed to be the date from which the contaminated fuel was sold.

Tesco has reportedly agreed to pay for repairs to some of the affected cars.

The supermarket had initially denied responsibility for any faults caused by their fuel.

However, they agreed to test the fuel after Laura Yeomans raised the issue, saying her fuel tank had to be drained and was found to contain 50 per cent water, leaving her with a large bill to pay.

We first reported Ms Yeomans’ problems on December 5.

On Wednesday, another motorist, Marc Boyd, said Tesco had agreed to pay a £15,000 repair bill for a new engine and gearbox for his Porsche Macan, which he filled up with diesel on November 28.

Mr Boyd said the 4x4 had broken down on the A45.

“We were coming home from a holiday and we jumped in our car only for it to breakdown within half a mile of Birmingham airport, leaving us stranded on the inside lane of the A45," he said.

“That is pretty scary with 70 mph cars coming up behind you.”

“We have only had the car for six weeks too so it is immensely frustrating.”

Since then more readers have reported issues via the Worcester News Facebook page.

Peter Reeves wrote: “Although Tesco have accepted liability, why are they dragging their feet to pay my £7,000 repair bill? This whole situation is becoming frustrating to say the least as I doubt I’ll be seeing my car before the year is out.”

A spokesman for Tesco said: “Our investigation found an isolated case of water in one of the diesel storage tanks at our Worcester Warndon Superstore and we are in contact with and supporting the small number of affected customers. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
