THE council is taking rough sleepers at a camp described as a 'mini-Glastonbury' to court today.
Worcester City Council is trying to evict the people living at the homeless camp behind Primo Bar and Dining, in Sidbury, Worcester.
Residents have made various complaints, including about anti-social behaviour, in relation to the settlement, although the rough sleepers have denied the claims.
The council is seeking a possession order from a judge at Worcester County Court today.
If the judge grants the order, the council can tell the rough sleepers to leave the area - and send in the bailiffs if they fail to do so.
A city council spokesman said: "Papers have been served on the people at Claire Street car park, requiring them to attend the court on that day.
“We are continuing to work with homeless support services, to find a solution to this situation which is best for these rough sleepers’ welfare.”
The camp was previously described as a 'mini-Glastonbury' by a local businesswoman who complained about the rough sleepers' behaviour.
The Worcester News cannot attend today's court hearing as it is being held in private.
