CUSTOMERS at a hair salon, which closed its doors after 18 years of trading, have expressed their sadness at its closure.

A notice was found on the door of city hair salon, Umberto Giannini, announcing it had closed.

The notice read: “After 18 years of trading we are very sad to say we are no longer open for business. Thank you to our loyal staff and clients.”

Since we reported on the Pump Street salon's closure last Friday, many readers have reacted to the news.

Sophie Hughes said: “Gutted! This has been my hairdresser for 18 years and the staff have always been just brilliant. It has always seemed such a nice place to work with a great atmosphere and great staff. I’m so gutted for the staff and Shirley.”

Sue Davies said: “Very sad to see Umberto’s close. I originally went to the Kidderminster salon to Umberto back in the 80s when he first opened, I was hooked.

"When Shirley moved to Worcester I followed.

"I moved to Spain three years ago but would return to have my hair cut when visiting Worcester. The salon was full of such talent and wonderful personalities.

"I’m so sorry to see it close. I wish all of the staff all the very best for the future. You were an amazing team.”

Tricia Cavell said: “I have been a customer for all of those 18 years. Nothing but excellence.

"I wish each and every member of the UG team the very best for their futures and I would like to thank them for their expertise and service over many years.

"Good luck to all with the next career chapter.”
