A POPULAR member of the team at the Worcester News is celebrating her 30th anniversary with the company, but she has actually worked here for 40 years in total.

Deb Walton started working at the Worcester News on August 6, 1973 as secretary to the group advertising manager and circulation director, before taking up the same role for the finance director.

Worcester born-and-bred Deb left to start a family in November 1983 before returning on January 9, 1989. Deb, who has two children and a granddaughter aged four, has worked in various roles with the Worcester News and its sister titles based in the Hylton Road office, is currently PA to the managing director amongst other roles.

She said: “I have enjoyed the job and all the different challenges over the years in an industry which is always changing.”

Managing Director Julia Lancett said: “Deb is a very popular member of staff and, although she’d never say it herself, she’s a vital member of the team here.”

Deb has been a member of Opera Worcester (formerly Great Witley Operatic Society) for more than 30 years and is a keen fan of Worcestershire County Cricket Club.
