A POSSIBLE retrial of the former Worcestershire cricketer Alex Hepburn is being considered by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Hepburn is accused of two counts of rape and jurors at Worcester Crown Court failed to reach a verdict after nine hours and 17 minutes deliberating.
The CPS confirmed they were taking into account the alleged victim's views before making a decision on whether to order a retrial. In cases where a jury fails to return a verdict, the reasons why a verdict could not be reached, public interest in the case, views expressed by the judge and the stance of the police are all taken into consideration when deciding on a potential retrial.
Hepburn's cricketing career is on hold after he was suspended by Worcestershire.
