WORCESTER Arts Workshop will be doing its level best to keep half-term holiday boredom at bay.

In fact, the venue has just announced its programme for the February break.

There will be a Shadow Puppetry event on Tuesday February 19, from 10.30am to noon, under the expert eye of Kay Mullett.

A spokesman said: "Create your own puppets and stories along the theme of 'the aliens have landed'.

"This is a fun workshop for children who like creating stories and enjoy crafty activities."

The event is suitable for children aged five to 12.

Also on February 19, there will be a Painting and Drawing ‘Colour Explosion’ event, from 10am to 4pm.

The spokesman said: "Painting tutor Andrew Clacher will be exploring the magic of colour with acrylic paints. Each participant will be working on a canvas and will create bright vibrant colour studies to take home and enjoy. All materials are provided in this fun and practical workshop. Participants will need to bring a pack lunch and snacks." This event is suitable for children aged 11 to 16.

British wildlife will be the theme of a pottery workshop on February 20, from 10am to 11.30am.

This will be for children aged from five to 12 and the tutor will be Kitty Cazes.

The spokesman said: "This will be an air drying clay pottery session exploring the theme of British Wildlife. Participants will get to know about animals such as pine marten, red squirrel and barn owl, while creating their own sculptures.

A pottery session for younger children, with a CBeebies theme, will take place on February 20 and February 21, from noon to 12.45pm.

Grown ups can enjoy an open mic night on February 21, from 7pm, and also on February 23.

Both events will "showcase local artists and bands in Worcester".
