Halesowen carnival organisers are appealing for performers, stallholders and volunteers to help make this year's event the best yet.

The free community festival will be held on Saturday July 6 in Highfield Park - with a plea also going out for sponsors to help cover its £8k running costs.

Festival chairman Stuart Henley said he hopes people will get on board to make the extravaganza a success.

Stuart said: "We have had a change of committee and in the process of getting the new members trained in our system.

"The event has grown year on year and we are hoping for an even bigger event this year.

"We would like to reach out to the community and local businesses for assistance in on the day volunteers also sponsorship/donations to help put the event on.

"It costs around £7-8,000 to bring this event to the community.

"We are also looking for a variety of performers to perform on one of our three stages, also stall holders.

"We will have around 40 stalls and try and not duplicate so people get the best sales from the event possible.

"Unfortunately we will not be able to offer charities free stalls due to our running costs."
