FREDDO lovers will be flocking to a supermarket this week after it revealed it was slashing the price of the popular chocolate bar.

Tesco has dropped the price of Freddos to the original 10p to mark its centenary year and it is sure to get customers running for the bargain.

The treat, made by Cadbury, had faced a public outcry after increasing its price by 200 per cent from 10p to 30p, with a popular discount website Vouchercloud predicting that the continued price rise, could see the popular chocolate bar costing a whopping 36p in 2030.

Even the leader of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, has previously joined the debate, suggesting we should investigate this matter further.

“I think we need to examine in some detail… the excessive profit making by those who make Freddos,” he said in an interview with digital football platform Copa90 in February 2018.

Following repeated complaints by customers to reduce the price, it was reduced by 5p in March of last year. However, it appears that has not done enough for Freddo fans.

Tesco’s chief customer officer, Alessandra Bellini, said: “We understand the nation want to see the iconic Freddo chocolate bars return to their original price of 10p [and] we’re pleased to have been able to give our customers what they want.”

Fans may have to act quickly as the deal ends on Sunday, January 27.
