ABBEY Park First and Nursery School staff and pupils were delighted to win the 2018 Early Years Education Award.

The school in Abbey Road, Pershore was praised by parents when nominated.

Sue Jennings, pre-school teacher, said: “It was amazing to even be nominated in the first place. Getting nominated and being recognised as an inspirational practitioner within Worcestershire is incredible. That is what we strive to do every day when the children come through the door.”

“To be recognised for our passion and hard work is an incredible feeling. Every practitioner goes the extra mile, but we like to think at Abbey Park that we really do care about every single child, no matter what their background or ability. They are unique and our passion for them is to give the best possible early years start. The staff go above and beyond, they are passionate.”

It is a really awarding feeling to have been nominated. Being a finalist was fantastic, but actually winning the award confirms our staff are truly dedicated to the children.”

Sam Faulkner, Abbey Park First and Nursery School business manager said: “Inspiring children to learn is our strap line.

“Winning this award confirms that our parents feel we have made a positive impact upon the students’ lives and we want to improve their outcomes. We know if we can intervene at an early stage we will improve those outcomes. The passion and dedication from every member of staff allows them to see the children grow throughout their time at school.

“The parents feel they can work with the school in a partnership. As a team we make a difference to their child.

“One of nominations was about the impact it had on their family and empowering then. Parents have said they are so glad they walked through our doors as they did not think their child would be in the same position they are today if they hadn’t joined us. By being told that by somebody else is inspiring, just to know you have made a difference to someone’s life.”

The deadline for nominations is April 18. Finalists are chosen by a panel of judges and winners are announced during an awards ceremony at the University Arena on June 20.
