PRINCESS Anne is set to visit to celebrate the work of overseas volunteers based at a school for the blind and visually impaired.
New College Worcester is a secondary school and college for blind and visually impaired young people and is one of the partner schools that take part in the Lattitude Global Volunteering programme, which welcomes people from overseas during placements in the UK.
Lattitude international volunteers provide support to blind and visually impaired students during the school day in lessons, as well as in the residential houses and at extra curriculum leisure activities.
As Patron of Lattitude Global Volunteering and upon her visit, HRH The Princess Royal will see the impact the volunteers have on the students in the visit on February 6.
Speaking of her recent experience as a customer service volunteer at New College Worcester, Charlotte Wallberg said: “In the year I was at NCW, this wonderful school became my second home and the lovely students, staff members and volunteers became my second family. I believe volunteering is really important because of the difference one can make in other people‘s lives and in return they will change yours.”
Nic Ross, principal of New College Worcester, said: “The Lattitude Global Volunteers who come to NCW gain such a lot from the experience, learning to work with our amazing young people. NCW also gains a huge amount from them.”
