TRUSTEES from Upton Blues Festival are deciding what to do with £25,000 they have to give to good causes, after the deadline for applications closed.
In January a charitable arm of the festival was established, to allows groups and individuals to apply for funding from the event's excess funds.
Oliver Carpenter, one of the festival’s trustees, said: “The recent change to the charity’s objectives has been fundamental to us as it has really opened up the possibilities for the charity.
“To date we have run a successful annual schools music education programme and made a substantial donation to refurbish a multi use games area in Upton, but now we can look more broadly to support the local, music education and Blues communities.”
For applications to be successful they had to be either Upton based, themed around musical education or to improve or promote the blues community, with a minimum value of £250.
