TODAY'S picture from the Worcester News archive dates back to July 1966, when fire broke out in the premises of ironmongers J C Baker in Foregate Street. Hundreds of people looked on as firemen fought the blaze, hindered by Calor gas cylinders exploding every few seconds. Also in the blaze were over 1,000 gallons of paint and two 300-gallon tanks, fuelling the flames.
