THE question, “Who’s that trip trapping over my bridge?” is set to be heard at The Henry Sandon Hall in Worcester.

And it’s nothing to do with borders and Brexit; instead it’s magical story-telling and live theatre for the young and young at heart.

It’s the tale of The Three Billy Goats Gruff,of course, but perhaps as you’ve never heard it before.

A spokesman said: “This is the simple story of three hungry goats and a grumpy old troll, told with a gentle ecological message. Watch out for the dance of the goats, the flying troll and loads and loads of rubbish!

“Garlic Theatre creates a magical world to entrance and delight a young audience, with puppets, live music, storytelling and singing. We travel to Sweden where the troll lives happily under his bridge fishing. Nobody knows he is there because he is so shy. The people from the town start to throw rubbish under the bridge and soon there are no more fish in the river.”

The spokesman added: “ Our troll becomes so hungry that when he sees a goat trip trapping by he tries to eat him, and so the story unfolds. What happens to the troll and how is the river cleaned of all the rubbish?”

Founded in 1997, international award winning Garlic Theatre is a Puppet Theatre Company that celebrates image, puppet animation, movement and live music “to create theatre productions of artistic excellence”.

With projects regularly funded by Arts Council England, their innovative and inspiring productions have delighted family audiences in the UK and around the world.

This production is suited to three to six years olds, as their “ideal first theatrical experience”.

A one enthusiastic teacher put it, after a recent performance: “The children were enthralled, totally caught up in the story; they were there!”
