JOHN Kirkpatrick is currently touring with a brand new CD, Coat-Tails Flying, which critics have been raving about.

And the good news is, John has a date at the Henry Sandon Hall, this March.

A spokesman said: "As a singer, dancer and instrumentalist, John Kirkpatrick has been one of the most prominent figures on the English folk scene for many years.

"He has performed and recorded extensively both as a soloist and as a member of duos, groups and bands, presenting a repertoire of music, songs and dances firmly rooted in traditional English practice. He is also regarded as a particularly fine exponent of the button accordion, the Anglo concertina and the melodeon, and is frequently called upon as a mainstream session musician in fields of music quite outside the folk idiom."

The spokesman added: "On radio, he has hosted several programmes and been a frequent contributor to others, particularly in the specialist folk music slots, but also in the broader arts programmes such as Kaleidoscope, Night Waves and Reading Music.

"In the theatre, John's fluency with traditional music has meant that he can contribute an atmosphere of great authenticity to historical plays, but he is also a flexible composer and songwriter and an inventive choreographer, and has covered an enormous range of styles. As songwriter, composer, choreographer, and musical director, he has contributed to over sixty plays in theatre and on radio. And as featured artiste, band member, or session player, his music can be heard on over 200 different commercial recordings."

John’s new CD Coat-Tails Flying includes "a multitude of songs and just two instrumental tracks. All noises heard have been made by Mr Kirkpatrick, including some big choral backing vocals and wild outbursts of frenzied percussion. You’ll not only be able to hear these tracks, but will also be able to buy this CD, as well as others, at his gig this March."

The date for the diary is Saturday March 2, at 7.30pm.
