A NEW trail giving youngsters the chance to learn about animal superheroes begins tomorrow.

Posters have been going up around the Hive this week before the BBC Science Focus Discovery Trial officially launches tomorrow.

The free month-long trail has been created by the team behind the BBC Science Focus magazine, and is part of events to mark British Science Week, which have been put on throughout March by the University of Worcester and The Hive, working with the Royal Institute.

The animal superheroes trail highlights creatures with amazing superhero abilities such as the ability to walk up walls or fly as fast as a racing car. Animals featured on posters include the dung beetle, peregrine falcon, gecko and cuttlefish.

There are eight boards in total to find, that are dotted around the grounds of The Hive and the City Campus next to The Butts-based library. The boards include fun and weird facts and form the clues to complete the quiz sheets that accompany the trial, that can be collected from The Hive. Other events include free public talks from University experts and a family science show.

Anne Hannaford, from the University, said: "We are always keen to involve the community and inspire young people and we hope these events will spark people’s curiosity and interest in science.”
