A GAMER will be completing a unique 24-hour challenge to raise cash for a bereavement charity.

Rick Holloway from Worcester is set to play the football management game, Championship Manager, continuously from midday next Tuesday, March 12, to midday on Wednesday, March 13.

The 36-year-old said he was doing the challenge in memory of his nan and grandad who died of cancer as well as close friends who died recently, as he wanted to give something back. He chose the charity as the Edward’s Trust logo is currently on the shirts of the team he coaches - Halesowen Town under 13s. The charity supports children and families facing loss and surviving bereavement.

Mr Holloway said: “I did this challenge last year when I raised £285 for St Richard’s Hospice.

“This time I set a target to raise £300 - but I’ve already raised £336 so now I’m just trying to raise as much as I can.

“Edward’s Trust is a worthwhile charity who do such good work.”

Mr Holloway said he choose the game, and the version 01/02, because it was his favourite game ever.

“It is a classic, the game is a passion,” he said.

“That version has all the old players on, when my team Aston Villa were still in the Premier League. I will providing update on social media as I go along. Last year I only had 15 minutes break in the whole 24 hours.”

Mr Holloway is currently getting the supplies in to prepare for the challenge, which he will be doing at his home in Fernhill Heath on his PC.
