STAFF at a primary school are delighted to retain a ‘good’ Ofsted rating following its most recent inspection.

Great Witley CE Primary School was praised for being a 'happy and purposeful place to learn.'

The report said the quality of teaching and learning was consistently strong across the school and pupils were inspired with a 'lifelong love of learning.’

The report read: “Staff and pupils are happy and proud of their school.

"During the inspection, pupils were keen to share their learning experiences. They could clearly explain what they were learning about and demonstrated an enjoyment in learning.

"They are polite and well mannered, and their conduct around the school is exemplary.

"Your learning ambassadors were extremely helpful in explaining all about their respective classes and the exciting topics they had been learning about.”

The report also said that, since becoming part of the Rivers CE Academy Trust, Great Witley school had received high-quality training and support and used the examples of good practice from other schools to help it continuously improve.

Leaders were praised for identifying why pupils' reading had not previously progressed as quickly as writing and maths and inspectors said this work needed to continue.

The Worcester Road school was also told to build on the improvements it had made to its early years provision.

Karen Banford, headteacher, said: “I am extremely proud that the school has been judged good in the recent Ofsted inspection.

"We have extremely talented staff and pupils and they were praised highly in the report.

"We are all very proud of our school and the report affirms that Great Witley CE Primary School is a great school at the heart of a thriving community.”

"We are extremely proud that they are part of the Trust and delighted that the support that we can offer them as a larger organisation has been recognised by Ofsted in this way.
