COMMUTER chaos has plagued the Black Country and Worcestershire on Friday afternoon with a host of train services delayed or cancelled after a vehicle struck a bridge.

Services on the Birmingham to Worcester via Kidderminster line have been affected by the incident.

The trouble has been caused by a road vehicle colliding with a bridge between Birmingham Snow Hill and Whitlocks End station near Solihull, blocking the line.

The train line runs from Birmingham through Black Country stations in Langley Green, Rowley Regis, Old Hill, Cradley Heath, Lye and Stourbridge.

It continues into Worcestershire, with stops at Hagley, Blakedown, Kidderminster, Hartlebury, Droitwich and, finally, Worcester.

West Midlands Railway said train users affected by the issues can use their tickets on tram or bus services instead.

The incident occurred early afternoon but WMR admitted it could not say when services would be back to normal.
