AN enthusiastic runner has landed to a place in this year’s London Marathon to raise money for a hospice that cared for her grandfather.

Nikki Evis, 40, works as an Property Manager for Timothy Lea and Griffiths Estate Agents, and has been running for 4 years, taking part in Race for Life, 10ks, half marathons and local park runs. She took up running after having two children and has discovered a real passion for the sport.

The 39th London Marathon will take place on April 28 and cover 26.2 miles of central London. More than 40,000 people take part, most of whom will be raising money for their local charities.

Nikki says “I have been given the great honour of running the Virgin London Marathon this year for St Richard’s Hospice. It is something I have always wanted to do but never thought I could possibly achieve until a couple of years ago when my passion for running really took hold and now St Richard’s Hospice have given me a gold bond charity place.

St Richard’s Hospice do a wonderful job of caring and supporting people and families dealing with life-limiting conditions within the south Worcestershire area.

This is my way of thanking them for the care they provided my own grandfather many years ago and for the support they provide to many people and their families every day.”

Alison Parkes, hospice fundraiser, said: “We are delighted Nikki is running the London Marathon for St Richard’s Hospice – her support is very much appreciated."
