A 13-YEAR-old girl will cut off her long, Rapunzel-style hair and give it to make wigs for young people who have lost their own hair.

Dominique Barnsley-Staight, from Worcester, was inspired to have 30 inches of hair cut off for the Little Princess Trust.

She also hopes to raise money for the charity, which gives wigs to young people who have lost their hair.

Dominique’s mum, Helen Barnsley-Staight, said: “Dominique’s hair is so long, it is almost down to her knees.

"Once it’s been cut it will be above her shoulders.

"It will be quite a shock her new hairstyle.”

The family say Dominique’s hair has always been long but she has wanted to have it chopped off for some time.

Her original goal was to raise £550, which would provide two wigs to be made for the Little Princess Trust.

However, she has already raise more than her target and has so far reached £1,165 which has been pledged for the charity.

Mrs Barnsley-Staight, aged 51, said: “Rather than her hair just sitting on the floor, we thought it would be better to donate it to a worthy cause."

Dominique said: “I’m really excited to have my hair cut and hope that a little girl will have a lovely wig made from it.”

Dominique will be having her hair chopped off on Saturday, April 6 at NV Hair and Beauty, in St Peter’s, Worcester.

Mrs Barnsley-Staight added: “NV Hair and Beauty has occasionally trimmed Dominique’s hair before, however this will be the first proper hair cut Dominique has ever had.

“She has never had a proper haircut.

"She has always had had long hair – even when she was a baby, she had lots of hair. She loves her long locks – however it takes forever trying to tie her hair up for school.”

Mrs Barnsley-Staight said she was very proud of her 13-year-old daughter, adding: “Her friends realise the good deed Dominique is doing and they understand why.

"The fact that her hair is so long, it is big thing for a girl of her age to do. A child will be given a beautiful wig afterwards.”
