A PUB landlord has organised a golf event to raise funds for a charity that has supported his wife who has been diagnosed as partially sighted.

Jim McKeever, 62, has organised an 18-hole charity golf event in aid of raising funds for Worcester Talking News – a charity that provide recordings and listener equipment to people who are visually impaired.

His wife, Anne McKeever said: “The charity sends me the Worcester News on a stick every week which I can listen to. This helps me as I cannot read the print anymore and I like knowing what is happening in the news.”

Mr McKeever, pub landlord from The Winning Post in Worcester, said: “The charity has helped my wife since she was diagnosed partially sighted about two years ago. The charity does amazing work and helps a lot of people who are a lot worse than Anne.

“We have been supporting Worcester Talking News for 15 years.”

In addition to playing golf on the 18-hole course, bacon rolls, tea and coffee and the “chef’s special” will be provided for partakers on the day.

Bill Evans, who has been involved organising the event, said: “We always raise funds for charities for somebody that we know. The idea is to help local charities which are close to our hearts.”

The event will take place on May 22 at Bewdley Pines Golf Club. The cost is £140 for a team of four. To get involved, call Mr McKeever on 07710600396.
