ROBIN Walker has said it is "clear" all Brexit alternatives have been rejected and appealed for the Prime Minister's twice defeated deal to be put before MPs for a third time.

The Worcester MP and Brexit minister also paid tribute to the Theresa May's "ultimate sacrifice" saying it was an admirable decision to help get the deal through Parliament.

Ministers were indicating there could be a meaningful vote held today on the withdrawal agreement covering conditions of the UK's departure from the European Union.

There was urgency, as the government had stressed the EU would only agree to an extension until May 22 if the Withdrawal Agreement is approved this week.

But a vote was far from certain, as Speaker John Bercow had stressed it come only come before MPs if there were substantial changes.

Latest developments had followed a busy night in parliament on Wednesday, when MPs voted on a series of eight alternative Brexit options - and rejected them all.

Mr Walker said he had previously voiced doubts on the process, and MPs votes on "undeliverable unicorns".

"The biggest problem is the speaker did not select options that would have passed," the MP said. "The speaker has shown himself to not be impartial.

"Labour's policy was heavily defeated - that is a unicorn, it would not deliver the referendum result."

Mr Walker said with signs of Tory MPs now prepared to back the deal, it should go before them again. "Friday is a crucial day," the MP said. "We have seen a number of people say they would now support it - they should be given that last chance.

"The speaker should see what has changed is the alternatives have been rejected."

On the PM's announcement to Tory MPs that she would step down to get the deal through, Mr Walker said: "It is a great shame.

"It is the ultimate sacrifice to give up the top job. She is patriotic.

"I am sad."

On the Tory leadership contest Mr Walker said: "I am not putting myself forward.

"I have not made up my mind who I will back - I will see what platform the runners and riders are standing on."

Mr Walker added one of the possible candidates being mentioned was fellow Worcestershire MP Sajid Javid.

The Home Secretary is currently priced as 7/1 to be the next prime minister by bookies.
