PARENTS are protesting against Ofsted following a nursery’s recent ‘inadequate’ rating.

Little Lodge Nursery, which was previously rated ‘outstanding’, received a damning report following an Ofsted visit on January 31 which rated the provision as ‘inadequate.’

Chris Husband, whose three-year old twins have attended the nursery in Spetchley, Worcester for two and a half years, said: “The Ofsted report has damaged the nursery’s reputation. I do not believe what was in the report for one second. I’m a teacher myself, I would not send my children anywhere that I do not have confidence in.”

Mr Husband, 35, from Worcester added: “The nursery is outstanding, I have had no concerns whatsoever, and even after the report came out, I did not believe it. My kids always come home happy and bring back work to do. Everyone is entertained throughout the day and an online diary called ‘Tapestry’ is available for the parents to check up on their children and see what they are up to.”

Parents have written a letter to Ofsted complaining about the report in which they disagree on all the criticisms. Thirty-one people have signed a petition to request for another full inspection to take place promptly.

Mum of two, Kate Cox, said: “I was shocked when Jane informed us of the report and its findings. I feel very sad for the team at Little Lodge as it really doesn’t reflect the environment. My children are both very happy there and I wouldn’t want them to be anywhere else. They carry out a range of activities both indoors and in the excellent sensory outdoor area and garden."

The inspection judged the nursery to be “inadequate with enforcement action.”

The report said: “Children do not make good enough progress and are not sufficiently prepared for the next stage of learning and their eventual move to school. Staff do not provide children with appropriate activities to meet their individual learning needs.”

On March 4, Ofsted returned for a monitoring visit and said it was satisfied with action taken - the next step is a full inspection.
