PUPILS, parents and staff from a school are delighted to receive its fourth consecutive ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating following its most recent inspection.
Perryfields Primary Pupil Referral Unit in St Johns, Worcester was praised for maintaining the “outstanding quality of education in the school since the previous inspection.”
The report said: “Pupils make excellent progress and their behaviour is courteous, thoughtful and cooperative.
“The curriculum helps pupils to thrive along with developing their aspirations.
“There is a wide range of trips, educational visits and residential experiences, and these help foster pupils’ excitement about learning and hope for the future.”
Along with educating pupils onsite, Perryfields provides behaviour support to 111 primary, first and middle schools in South Worcestershire.
The report highlighted that Perryfields successfully returns pupils to mainstream school and prepares them for the next stage of their education.
Headteacher Pete Hines was described in the report as an “inspirational headteacher” and that “the leadership team leads with insight and dedication.”
Mr Hines said: “I am extremely privileged to be part of an incredible team of people who work fantastically well together to change the lives of vulnerable young people.
“We need to be proud of how far we have come but never stop pushing ourselves to be the best that we can be in helping build pupils’ aspirations and getting them back on track.”
In order to improve, the school should ensure pupils make at least good progress in modern foreign languages by placing this subject in the key stage 1 and 2 curriculum.
Chair of governors, Andy McDouall said: “The Ofsted report was a magnificent achievement and a lasting tribute to the quality of schooling provided by Pete and all of his hard working and committed staff.”
Steph Halliday, who has been part of Perryfields since its beginning over twenty years ago, said: “How Perryfields has grown from its early stages to the outstanding school it has become and the difference it has made to thousands of young people’s lives.”
