TODAY'S picture comes from April 1998 when amateur snail enthusiast David Green found a rare Mediterranean species of snail in his garden at Little Comberton, near Pershore. Mr Green looked up the snail's markings and discovered that it was a Hygromia Cinctella and had been spotted in Devon in the 1950s but never as far north as Worcestershire. Experts say it could have been introduced to the county as eggs or baby snails in soil or garden plants
