A GARDEN centre near Worcester is celebrating after creating new jobs.

David’s Garden Centre by Cherry Lane in Martin Hussingtree, Worcester, is celebrating its first birthday with the creation of a new on-site nursery.

The nursery is one of three operations within Cherry Lane group which grows plants and shrubs for the Group’s ‘Grown By Us’ range.

The addition has created three new jobs, with staff already growing more than 17,000 plants for the new gardening season to be sold at David’s and other Cherry Lane garden centres across East Anglia, Yorkshire and The Midlands.

David’s by Cherry Lane employs 33 people, including nine seasonal temporary staff who have just been appointed in preparation for the new gardening season.

Cherry Lane acquired David’s in early May 2018 and, since then, has made many alterations and upgrades to the garden centre. These include improvements to the main undercover plant area which has been fully tarmacked with new polytunnels and 100 new plant benches added.
