ELECTIONS to the European Parliament for the West Midlands Region will be held on Thursday, May 23.

Nomination papers are to be given to the Elections Office, Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham B1 1BB, between 10am and 4pm on any week day except Good Friday and Easter Monday but no later than 4pm on Thursday, April 25.

Nominations forms may also be obtained from the elections office during the same times.

A deposit for each registered political party or individual candidate of £5,000 must be paid.

If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, May 23 2019.

Applications to be included in the register of electors must reach the relevant Electoral Registration Officer by midnight on Tuesday, May 7 2019.

Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the relevant Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday, May 8 2019.

Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the relevant Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday, May 15 2019.

Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the relevant Electoral Registration Officer at their offices by 5pm on Thursday 23 May 2019.

The West Midlands region has seven MEPs who sit at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
