ANYONE wishing to nominate their favourite teacher, lecturer, school, nursery or community group only has two more days to do so.

Nominations for the Worcestershire Education Awards, run by the Worcester News in partnership with the University of Worcester, close on Thursday, April 18.

The awards celebrate and recognise individuals and groups who go the extra mile to make a difference in education across the county.

We have been inundated with nominations for teachers, schools, nurseries and volunteers who are helping to give young people the best start in life.

This year’s awards have been supported by a host of sponsors including: Worcestershire County Council, The Royal Three Counties Show, Babcock Prime, Worcester Bosch and Heart of Worcestershire College.

There are 12 award categories you can nominate a group or individual for.

They are:

• Early Years Education

• Community Involvement

• Primary / Middle School of the Year

• Headteacher / Principal of the Year

• Secondary School of the Year

• Teacher / Lecturer of the Year

• College, or Post-18 Education & Training Provider

• Newcomer of the Year

• Special Education Needs (SENCO)

• Support Staff of the Year

Once all the nominations are gathered, the panel of expert judges will go through them and create a shortlist and choose the winners.

The winners will be formally announced at a glitzy black-tie awards evening at the University of Worcester Arena on Thursday, June 20.
