A CITY council candidate who admitted ‘liking’ a hardcore pornographic image through an old Twitter account has received support from Worcester News readers,

Andy Graham, Labour candidate for the Warndon Parish North ward at the upcoming city council elections, has apologised after a pornographic image was found in his likes list on an old Twitter account.

Mr Graham had also 'liked' a picture of a topless woman on Twitter, though he claimed his account was hacked.

His rival candidate, Conservative Nida Hussan, yesterday called for him to be suspended by the Labour Party.

However, many Worcester News readers defended Mr Graham after our initial reports on the situation.

Andy McCurdy said: "So, if a man likes a picture of a naked woman he’s to be suspended from the Labour Party, yet if other members repeatedly make anti-Semitic comments nothing happens.”

Will Son said: "If old Tweets are being used against people, more than half the MPs should be sacked.”

But Morgan Wright added: "If he wants to act like an MP, his account shouldn’t have been so insecure and he should have checked bases.”

Andy Jones argued: "We’d be wise to remember that people are people – not weird robots that never do anything controversial.”

Paul Steel said: "If he is the sexist monster his Tory rival is trying to make him out to be, I’m sure all his other dodgy 'likes' will be discovered and reported too, or is it not just a bit of Tory lowdown election profiteering?”

Gemma Allcott said: "It’s funny how his rival candidate has called for him to be suspended. Her time would be better spent actually focusing on local issues.”

Kim Bishopp said: "I’ve met Andy Graham twice. On both occasions I found him to be very polite and courteous."
