A PLAQUE has been unveiled in tribute to a loving wife and mother.

Wendy Alabaster died at the age of 54, just two years after receiving her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Husband, David Alabaster, 55, has planted a bush together with a plaque in Rosebank Gardens, Malvern in honour.

He said: “Wendy was my whole world.

“It means a lot to get a plaque put in the park with the permission of the council who have made this possible.

"I now live in Essex but it is a place where Wendy's children, my stepchildren, Sam Sarah and Ashley can come to remember their mum."

The installation morning on April 26, was an emotional time for David.

“I was there on my own and I had goosebumps.

“The oddest thing happened - a little Robin came down and landed near me.

“I think this was a sign from Wendy looking down and saying she’s proud,” he added.

The couple were married for ten years before her death.

Mr Alabaster said: "We did everything together.

"She was my soulmate and I will never find someone like her again."

Mr Alabaster was at her side during her final moments: "Her last words to me were her asking for me to hold her.

"I scooped her up and held her lovingly in my arms for a couple of minutes until she passed.

"I called her my baby chick.

"She was beautiful inside and out.

"It was her true courage, strength and determination that allowed her to fight this terrible illness for two years.

"I did all I could to make her life as comfortable as possible, as she was determined to stay at home at all costs.

He children were also present at the time of her death.

A public celebration of Wendy's life took place at Rosebank Gardens on Saturday April 27.
