VOTERS will go to the polls next week to decide who they want representing them at Wychavon District Council.

On Thursday (May 2) 84 candidates will battle it out for votes in 24 of the council’s 31 districts – with eight councillors in seven districts already elected due to a number of elections going uncontested.

In Evesham North, five candidates are battling it out for two seats in the district. Two Independent candidates in the shape of Gary Hale and Emma Nishigaki will battle it out with Labour’s John Gowers and Cllr Robert Raphael, who is looking to be re-elected, and Peter Griffiths from the Conservatives.

Five candidates are also standing in Evesham South with Paul Bennett and Matt Snape standing for the Conservatives with Edward Cohen and Julie Tucker representing the Green Party, Chrissy Smith standing for the Independents and Barmy Lord Brockman representing the Monster Raving Loony Party.

In Pershore, five candidates are battling it out for three seats with Cllr Val Wood for the Conservatives and Cllr Charles Tucker for the Liberal Democrats both looking to be re-elected. Labour’s Misan McFarland, Sam Tarran for the Conservatives and Dan Boatright and Caroyln Harford for the Liberal Democrats are also battling for one of the seats.

Just two candidates are looking to secure a seat in Pinvin with Cllr Liz Tucker hoping to be re-elected with Joshua Godfrey for the Conservatives standing in her way.

A vacant seat in Drakes Broughton left empty by Cllr Paul Middlebrough's decision to step down means Liz Turier from the Liberal Democrats and the Conservative's Mark Ward will battle it out.

Cllr Tony Rowley is looking to be re-elected but this time in Fladbury where he faces opposition from Diana Brown from the Liberal Democrats.

It’s a two horse race in Honeybourne and Pebworth where Thomas Havemann-Mart for the Conservatives and Patrick Hogan from the Green Party are battling it out.

In Little Hampton, five candidates are fighting for two seats with Cllr Frances Smith looking to be re-elected for the Conservatives alongside Labour’s Ros Gowers, Independent candidate Sarah Schaathun, Jonathan Thompson, David Quayle from the Liberal Democrats and Andrew Dyke for the Conservatives.

In Great Hampton, Cllr Ged Bearcroft is fighting for re-election with Sarah Cohen from the Green Party also hoping to take the seat.

Conservative's Cllr Emma Stokes and Cllr Martin King are both looking to be re-elected in Bengeworth but face opposition from Julie Haines and Tim Haines of the Liberal Democrats as well as Labour's Mary Campbell.

Cllr George Mackison is looking to be re-elected in Elmley Castle and Somerville but faces opposition from the Green Party’s Darren Corbett.

It is a two horse race in Upton Snodsbury where Cllr Linda Robinson for the Conservatives stands against Nick Wiltshire for the Liberal Democrats.

Cllr Liz Eyre will look for re-election for the Conservatives in Broadway and Wickhamford with Independent candidate Nigel Robinson, Labour's Sally Tomlinson and fellow Conservative Emma Foss fighting for two seats in the district.

In Droitwich Central, Labour's Alan Humphries, Chas Murray from the Liberal Democrats and the Conservative's John Hartley are all looking to secure a seat.

Two seats in Droitwich East will be taken either by Eric Bowden and Alex Sinton from the Conservatives and Wendy Carter from the Liberal Democrats.

The battle for two seats in Droitwich South East will be fought by Cllr Richard Morris from the Conservatives who is looking to be re-elected as well as fellow Conservative John Grady, Neil Franks and Jane Zurek from the Green Party and Stephanie Vale and John Littlechild from the Liberal Democrats.

Two more seats in Droitwich South West are up for grabs with Paul Wiseman and Adrian Key representing the Liberal Democrats and Matthew Hartley and David Morris representing the Conservatives.

In Droitwich West, Cllr George Duffy is looking to be re-elected for the Conservatives alongside Labour's Valerie Humphries and Seth Pearson, Rod Hopkins from the Liberal Democrats and fellow Conservative Jenny Chaudy.

In Bowbrook, Conservative Bob Brookes, who has represented Droitwich Spa East for the last eight years, is battling it out with veteran Liberal Democrat Cllr Margaret Rowley.

Labour's Rehan Yunus takes on Cllr Adrian Hardman who is hoping to be re-elected in Bredon.

Jack Parsons from the Liberal Democrats and Stephen Bateman for the Conservatives are battling it out for the seat in Hartlebury.

It’s a two horse race in Honeybourne and Pebworth where Thomas Havemann-Mart for the Conservatives and Patrick Hogan from the Green Party battling it out.

In Lovett and North Claines, Thomas Coe and Judith Cussen from the Liberal Democrats, Sheila Grant for the Green Party and the Conservative’s Nicolas Wright are all battling it out against Cllr Tony Miller who is looking to be re-elected.

George Smart for the Liberal Democrats and Christopher Day are battling it out in a two-horse race for a seat in Ombersley.

In The Littletons, the Green Party’s Nicola Jennings is standing against Cllr Richard Lasota who is looking to be re-elected.

Elections for seven districts have gone uncontested - including that of current leader of the council Councillor Bradley Thomas who moves districts from Broadway & Wickhamford to Harvington and Norton.

Conservative Aaron Powell takes over in Bretforton and Offenham, Conservative Laurence Smith has been elected in Dodderhill, Cllr Ron Davis has been re-elected in Eckington and Cllr Adrian Darby has been re-elected for the Liberal Democrats in South Bredon Hill.

Cllr Audrey Steel and Cllr David Wilkinson, the current chairman of the council’s planning committee, have both already been re-elected in Inkberrow and Cllr Rob Adams has been re-elected in Norton and Whittington.
