THE inquest for a man who died following an incident at a Worcestershire pub a year ago is to be held in the summer.

Jason Olds, collapsed following the incident in the Dog and Pheasant in Worcester Road, Bromsgrove, at around 8.50pm on April 7. Paramedics arrived and he was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where he later died.

The inquest has now been set for July 12.

A 52-year-old from Derby, a 25-year-old man from Derby and a 48-year-old man from Telford were all later arrested on suspicion of affray following the incident. They were subsequently arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, and bailed.

A spokesman for the force has now told the Worcester News all three remain released under investigation, and enquiries are continuing.

At the time of the incident, Detective Inspector Sarah Squires said: “We’re carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances around this man’s death and are keen to speak to anyone who was in the pub at the time who may have information that can help us with our enquiries.

"Extra officers have been in the local area as we carry out our enquiries and also to offer reassurance to members of the public.”

DI Squires also admitted last year there was uncertainty as to whether an alleged altercation at the pub contributed to Mr Olds’ death.

After the death was announced Mr Olds’ daughter, Leah, paid tribute to him, saying: “There was no one who could walk into a room and light it up like my dad did. He always created laughter and joy. He was very much a happy-go-lucky joker.

“With those around him, the Villa ground was his happy place, as well as his season ticket.

“As much as we liked to disagree, he always treated me like the princess he chose to name me after.”

His heartbroken fiancée Corinne Murphy described him as ‘beautiful and caring’ in an emotional tribute, saying: “My fiance Jay, I love you always no words can describe the pain I am feeling. Jay was my world, my everything he gave me a life I had always dreamed of and I will always love you.”

Anyone with information can still call police on 101, quoting incident 683s.
