AN EARLY year’s centre has been nominated for a Worcestershire Education Award after being praised for their hard work and commitment.

Madresfield Early Years Centre in Hayswood Farm, Malvern, was nominated for the Community Involvement Award.

The early year’s centre was founded in 1994 and has since been awarded six successive outstanding ratings by Ofsted as well as the ‘Best Nursery in the UK’ award by the National Day Nurseries Association.

The centre has links with Kirsten Reeves from Debutots Worcestershire, who has set up a project for children to engage with residents from care homes.

Across the year, Madresfield Early Years Centre has been visiting the care home Bradbury Court.

WEA 2019: Debutots Worcestershire nominated for Community Involvement Award

Cath Glover, early years centre manager said: “The children who visit really benefit as it allows them to get out in the community and interact with older people.

“It is a fun interaction where the children can get out of their comfort zone and get involved and encourage the residents to join in.

“The opportunity allows the children to interact with the local community and improve their confidence and self-esteem.”

Natalie Griffiths, who nominated the early years centre, said: “They should win this award for their hard work and continued commitment to the elderly.

“The centre regularly takes classrooms of young children to visit and chat to the elderly that might not normally have anyone to talk with.”

Speaking about her job, Mrs Glover, aged 49, said: “I love the variety, the interaction with families, and that sense of community.

“We are still in contact with people who went to pre-school here 25 years ago.

“It is really exciting and an honour to be nominated.

“We make every day exciting at the centre by offering unique opportunities to the children.”

“We do not compare to anywhere else.

“We are unique in regard to our setting, staff, and the team’s passion and enthusiasm. We want to make the pre-school the best we can.”
