Our photographers, Fraser Portraits, were busy once again this year down in Crowngate Shopping Centre in early March taking snaps for this year’s Baby of the Year competition.
This year we saw an increase in entrants and had 188 babies entered into our annual competition, which resulted in a 16-page colour supplement in the Worcester News on Tuesday, April 2. Voting was fast and furious after the supplement was published with readers able to vote by text, phone and post. We had over 5,000 votes – a fantastic response – many thanks to all those that voted.
As a result of readers’ votes alone this gave us the top 10 in each age category. These are the finalists in the 0-9 months category.
A panel of judges, including editor Michael Purton, now has the difficult task of selecting the winners from each category. All winners will be notified in writing in the next few weeks.
The overall winner and Worcester News baby of the year will be chosen from the category winners. Prizes will be framed colour portraits along with trophies and flowers for the winner’s mum.
