A PLAYHOUSE has been donated to a pre-school after children were left heartbroken by vandals.

Dan Cox, from D&J Timber Buildings Limited designed a playhouse from scratch and has installed it at St Peter's Pre-School after the staff and children suffered from two break-ins.

Trudie Harris, manager of the pre-school, said: “All of us at St Peter's Pre-School would like to again express our thanks to D&J Timber Buildings Ltd for their generous donation. The children loved watching their new playhouse being built, it will be thoroughly enjoyed for years to come.”

Dan Cox, from D&J Timber Buildings Limited said: “It was really lovely to do as the children were able to watch us install the playhouse and were all getting very excited when the playhouse sections were being brought in.

"It was such a great feeling to be the good guys. I have a five-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter myself and know the kinds of questions they like to ask.

"I can only imagine how difficult it was explaining that bad guys came and took their playhouse away, so it was really nice to be that positive explanation to the children and install a little faith into them that not everything in the world is bad.”

Dorothy Merryweather, from Droitwich, has organised a charity quiz night and raised £100 to give to the pre-school. Mrs Merryweather, aged 79 said: “It’s absolutely fantastic that the pre-school has had their playhouse replaced. We are happy to help. We love being able to support charities and help the local community.”

The playhouse was installed at the pre-school in St Peter’s Church Lane, Droitwich, on May 14. To help raise funds for the school to replace damaged toys and fencing during the robberies, a
