A VOLUNTEER is running 26.2 miles in the gruelling Edinburgh Marathon in support of Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter.

Claire Wilkin-Mead, of St. Johns, Worcester, is taking part on May 26.

Claire, who volunteers at the shelter as a receptionist and works full-time as the deputy director of sixth form and teacher of business studies at South Bromsgrove High School, is looking forward to raising both awareness and funds for the shelter.

Claire said, “I’m running for the Worcestershire Animal Rescue Centre because they do a wonderful job helping animals find forever homes. A great deal of time and care goes into each animal to ensure they find the perfect home. The staff work exceptionally hard on a limited budget and any funds that can be generated to enable them to do their jobs and help provide the support, care and love these animals need would be welcomed. With just over 1 week to go until the Edinburgh Marathon please dig deep and donate what you can to support an outstanding charity.”
