A HOMELESS man who broke into a cafe and stole three charity tins has been jailed.
Kieran Blunden, 33, broke into The Conservatory Café in North Street, Horsham, at 11.30pm on Monday May 13.
Police discovered smashed windows and blood at the scene.
Witnesses described a man acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the break-in, which helped identify Blunden.
He was spotted in Hurst Road at about 7pm the following evening and police noticed he had cuts on his hand.
Blunden admitted stealing another charity tin from a Cancer Research shop in West Street, Horsham.
He was sentenced to 12 weeks’ imprisonment and must pay £50 compensation after appearing at Crawley Magistrates’ Court.
Police described his offence as ‘diabolical’.
