A SCHOOL is bringing the community together to raise money in a messy way.

A colour run, organised by Christopher Whitehead Language College and Sixth Form will see the community covered in florescent paint, running 5k for good causes.

It will raise money for The Make a Wish Foundation, Ronald Macdonald House Charity, St Richard’s Hospice, Leukaemia Care, Water Aid and Young Minds.

Di Howland, funding and events manager at Christopher Whitehead said: “I have seen lots of pictures on social media and I thought, ‘what a great, fun way to get the community together and raise money. It is something that will appeal to families. We have had lots of families contact us to ask if they can run with their toddlers in their pushchairs. We had someone call yesterday, one of her daughters has cerebral palsy and said it’s going to take her about three hours, and we said that’s fine we will hang on.”

More than 100 people have already signed up, and places are limited.

The event has support from Black Pear Running Club and Happy Feet Worcester. St John’s Sports Club will provide sports activities. There will be refreshments and free parking will be provided at Christopher Whitehead Language College over the road from the event.

The 5K Colour Run takes place on Saturday, July 13 at King’s School Playing fields, Slingpool Walk, Bromwich Road, Worcester, WR2 4AD.

Entry is £15 for adults and £8 for children 16 and under. Each participant will receive a pair of funky sunglasses and an engraved medal. To enter visit entrycentral.com/Colour-run-Worcester. You must register online to take part.
