A CAT has luckily found a new home after her previous family were unable to care for her.

Nibbler was 9 years old when she arrived at Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter. (WARS)

She didn’t like too much fuss and was the very first cat to use the new chill-out rooms.

Nibbler was at the Shelter for just over 10 months. Andrea Newsom was in a perfect position to find out more about her.

Andrea said, “We had been volunteering at WARS for about three months and our cat Abi passed away. We decided to offer to foster a cat and the Shelter asked whether we would take Nibbler as she was very stressed and unhappy and had been there around 10 months.”

Andrea met Nibbler at the Shelter and it wasn’t all plain sailing.

Andrea added, “Initially, she hated everyone! She would not let anyone she was unfamiliar with touch her and that included us at the Shelter, unless she was in the chill out room where she would let you stroke her only once before you received a biff!”

Nibbler was a bit of a grumpy cat who knew what she liked and also what she didn’t like.

Andrea took Nibbler home on foster shortly after.

Andrea said, “Nibbler was so stressed after a long time at the Shelter and we were lucky enough, as the Shelter knew us, that they brought her on the home check so she could stay if everything was fine. Fortunately, it was. She hopped out of the carrier, strolled around like she owned the place, let us stroke her and then flopped down on a cat bed straight away. Jackie who did the check said if she had not wrangled Nibbler into a carrier herself, she would not believe it was the same cat.”

Nibbler settled in perfectly and it didn’t take long before she was adopted as a brand new member of the family on a permanent basis.

Andrea said, “Nibbler adores sleeping, more sleeping, sunbathing, chasing ribbon, being brushed and bullying the neighbours dog, and any cat that meanders into her territory – these are some of her favourite things.”

Andrea said, “She has settled in with John and I over the last three years really well. She loves to lie on our legs for a sleep and the 'this cat will not sleep on the bed' never got enforced as we couldn't believe she wanted to sleep with us, so never stopped her as it felt like such a breakthrough."

"She is definitely a character who we love having around.”
