A COMMUNITY champion has been busy supporting local charities including a food bank.

Theresa Tydeman is a community champion at Morrisons, Evesham. Her role is to be the link between their store and the local community offering anything from a donation for a charitable event – such as a raffle prize or a voucher to be spent in store for their cause.

Ms Tydeman said: "We manage unsold food to local organisations that provide hot meals within their groups and liaise with the food bank link.

We organise and deliver food makers and shopkeepers tours to primary school to fit in with their requirements and our colleagues will happily join in. We can also go to groups and organisations to do activities such food tasting and talks on healthy eating to fit in with their needs."

Ms Tydeman is organising fundraising events in-store and out of store for the store's partnership charity, Clic Sargent. So far throughout the UK Morrison’s have raised £7,500,000 for young cancer patients and for support for their families. Evesham, as a community have raised about £11,000.

On Tuesdays they have a Friendship club that gather in the cafe for a chat and a complimentary drink.

On Saturdays Morrisons has a kids crafts club. All ages are welcome. For more information visit morrisonsfoundation.com
