IF one word could describe my experience at The Dewdrop Inn as a whole, I would go with ‘sensational.’

Admittedly, the eatery in Lower Broadheath, Worcester, is a bit more upscale than what I would usually attend. However, Pub Spy felt like splashing out a little bit on this occasion.

It was my first time at the restaurant - I had been meaning to go for some time after it had been frequently recommended to me. It was reasonably busy for a week-day evening, which I always believe is a good sign. From my understanding, weekends can be jam-packed, so it is always best to book to avoid disappointment.

Upon arrival, my dinner date and I headed straight to the bar to order some drinks. As it was a weeknight, I thought I should be sensible, so I ordered an orange juice to quench my thirst, while my companion ordered a Carling. We were taken to our table by a friendly member of staff, whom I presume was the manager.

The restaurant offers a huge range of food to dazzle your taste buds and in all honesty, it was tough to choose from as everything took my fancy.

For a starter, we ordered a baked camembert to share, which had hints of rosemary, roast garlic and was served with artisan breads, priced at £12.

Despite there being lots of adventurous dishes on offer, what took my eye was the honey and mustard glazed ham, fried duck egg, slow cooked tomato and triple cooked chips for £13. I felt guilty ordering a more basic meal from the menu as I was in such a fancy place, however, when my food came out it was most definitely the right decision. I tell you what, it was by a mile the best ham, egg and chips I have ever had. The ham was thickly cut, and the honey mustard glazing was divine. The chefs managed to turn a simple meal into such a heavenly treat.

My date ordered the fish of the day for £18, which was a tuna steak, with a poached egg and a variety of seasoned vegetables – a lot more Mediterranean than my British classic.

The design of the dining area is open plan which brings in plenty of natural light.

Music was gently playing in the background – mainly acoustic songs, which created a real relaxing atmosphere.

The staff were very friendly and attentive throughout the night.

The village pub is a 15-minute drive away from Worcester.

Every element of the restaurant I enjoyed. The food quality was top notch, and you get what you pay for. Perhaps it is not a place I would treat myself to for food on a regular basis - due to costs – however, for a few drinks and a light snack I could definitely see myself being a regular.

As you can probably tell, Pub Spy thoroughly enjoyed their visit and would highly recommend The Dewdrop Inn to anyone looking to taste fantastic food in a welcoming environment, or simply unwind with a drink and enjoy the wonderful outdoor space on offer.

The cost of the food is slightly more than what I would usually pay for. However, every penny spent was worth it.

Overall, with two drinks, a sharing starter and two mains, the bill came to £49.
