ENJOY a fun day out and celebrate the founding of the RSPCA at a special anniversary event later this month.

RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch is hosting an anniversary celebration of the founding of the society on Sunday, June 16.

The event has been called 'One Fun Day' because 28 branches of the charity are holding events on the same day to mark the anniversary.

Geraldine Haynes, branch trustee, said: "We warmly invite members of the public to join us on our open day and enjoy some delicious refreshments against the beautiful backdrop of the Malvern Hills.

"Tea, coffee and a selection of tempting cakes will be available, or Pimms and Prosecco for those who prefer a tipple or two!

"We will be firing up our barbecue and grill to serve our locally-renowned, hunger-busting vegetarian and vegan burgers.

"Children are most welcome and will be entertained with face painting and a variety of childrens' crafts. A meet and greet with members of the team will enable children to learn more about the work we do and the animals in our care."

The day includes a raffle and tombola with some fabulous prizes on offer, in order to raise vital funds for the branch's rescue and rehoming centre at The Holdings.

Visitors will be able enjoy a cruelty-free day at the races and take advantage of a unique opportunity to participate in a pony cycle racing tournament, suitable for both adults and children.

For the less adventurous, the branch's newly opened on-site shop will be well stocked with a variety of new and almost-new goods to suit every budget.

Mrs Haynes said: "Please come along and support your local RSPCA branch and find out more about the work being done for rescued animals in Worcestershire."

The event runs from 10am until 4pm at The Holdings Rescue & Rehoming Centre in Holdings Lane, Broomhall, Kempsey, Worcester WR5 3FP.
