A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl has had most of her flowing locks lopped off to raise money for the Little Princess Trust.

Lexy-Mai Padley, from Droitwich, had “a whopping 35cm” of hair cut off at Envy Hairdressers, raising nearly £1,200 for the charity which creates wigs for cancer patients.

With her hair below her waist, Lexy was taken to the Gurneys Lane salon on May 30 by her dad Richard Padley hoping to raise £100.

Mr Padley said donators had gone “above and beyond” and Lexy couldn’t be more pleased, having got the idea from her granddad Pete who previously shaved his head for another charity.

The trust was founded in memory of five-year-old Hannah Tarplee and thanks to fundraisers like Lexy, have now begun funding research into the causes of paediatric cancer.

The organisation also aims to support the development of less aggressive and toxic cancer treatments.

It costs £550 to provide a real-hair wig free-of-charge for patients, of which it currently supplies over 100 a month. Writing on Facebook, Lexy described the charity as a “fantastic cause”.

“Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £5 or £500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.” See: facebook.com/donate/ 2099381303515096 to donate.
