Sir – Last week I was driving on the A38 from Droitwich through to Fernhill Heath.

As I approached the school on the left hand side, I encountered a professional looking cyclist doing a steady 20mph.

There was nowhere to pass him within the 1.5m rule, due to parked cars, oncoming traffic, central refuge crossing points, junctions and drive ways.

He waved me on twice to pass him, but it was not safe to do so.

When the road cleared past Station Road he again waved me past and this time I could do so.

However, as I passed him, he gesticulated and angrily swore at me!

What did I do wrong? So many cyclists complain about car drivers, but when I obey the rules and drive safely, I’m a ******?

What is a motorist supposed to do?
