A STREET football tournament will be held in a city park next month.

Fortis Living will organise the tournament in partnership with Worcester City Council, Freedom Leisure and Kidderminster Harriers at the city’s Cripplegate Park on Sunday, July 28.

Games will include under 16s playing between 10am and noon while, between noon and 3pm, there will an adult, five-a-side tournament.

A disability football tournament will take place between 3pm to 5pm.

Paul Edwards, community officer at Fortis Living said: “This is the first time we have organised a football tournament on this level.

"Taking place in the summer holidays, it is a perfect day out for all the family.

"It also plays an important part in community cohesion, teaching players valuable life lessons such as inclusivity, teamwork, discipline, perseverance, goal setting, handling success and failure, time management and keeping fit.

"Everyone is welcome and we look forward to a fabulous day.”

An inflatable pitch is being provided by The Kidderminster Harriers for the duration of the event with all money being raised going to Disability Sport Worcester and Kidderminster-based Our Way Self Advocacy, which provides advocacy support for local people with learning disabilities.
