A GRANDMOTHER has praised the 'outstanding' care her granddaughter received at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Cath Pedwell was looking after two year-old Bow when she noticed she was having breathing difficulties and struggling with a cough.

She said: “We were looking after her on June 8 and we could see she was really struggling with her breath and coughing a lot.

“We dialled 111 and took her to hospital and the care she received was outstanding.

“Going to hospital can be stressful and frightening for anyone, let alone a two year-old, but the staff were so helpful and so good with her.”

Since then, Bow has been recovering in hospital after a change of medication and inhaler, and Mrs Pedwell, 56, from Hartlebury, was keen to thank the staff who looked after her.

She added: “You hear so many stories of people struggling to get beds and lying in the corridors for hours but when we went we were straight into a bed within an hour and the doctors and nurses regularly checked up on her.

“We were really impressed with the facilities there and she has had plenty of toys to play with while she has been at Worcestershire Royal.

“I had a similar experience with my husband a few days later when we went to Kidderminster hospital. The care we received there was also great. This is so refreshing and restores my faith in the NHS.

“Well done to the children’s team both in A&E and on the ward. They are providing an excellent service and it makes me very proud again of our NHS.”

Bow, who lives in Birmingham with her parents, is recovering well in hospital and her family is hopeful she will be free to come home in the next few days.
