Ever wanted to time travel with the help of music?

Well now the opportunity is almost upon you.

The latest show, A Brief History of Music, from acclaimed musicians Chris Green and Sophie Matthews takes in 600 years of musical history in a busy 90 minutes, and it’s coming to the Huntingdon Hall in Worcester.

A spokesman said: “Chris Green and Sophie Matthews are renowned for breathing new life into material from hundreds of years ago, making it fresh, relevant and accessible for a modern audience. Also known for their popular themed touring shows, Green and Matthews have built an enviable reputation for combining incisive wit and humour with a genuine love for the English tradition. Their latest show A Brief History of Music is no exception, with Worcester’s 18th Century Huntingdon Hall serving as an ideal location.

“Beginning in the Middle Ages and ending up in the 20th century (and incorporating everything in-between!) this fun and fast-moving show is a whistle-stop tour of Western musical history. “

The spokesman added: “Featuring long forgotten songs and tunes (not to mention jokes!), Chris and Sophie paint a vibrant and vivid picture of our musical DNA, mixing the familiar and the obscure, the raucous and the reflective and the courtly and the commonplace.

“The show combines the vigour of the medieval period, the musical intricacy of the Renaissance, the grandeur of the Baroque and the pomp and bombast of Victoriana. The stage is set for a veritable musical feast, complete with a bewildering array of instruments, such as virginal, rauschpfeife and lute (and that’s just the first 100 years!).

The date for the diary is June 22.
