SIR – I refer to the recent article in your paper for a proposal to change the former Perdiswell pub and restaurant to a McDonald’s situated in close proximity to a very busy traffic signals controlled cross roads junction often with long traffic queues on the Droitwich Road A38 – Checketts Lane and access roadway serving ATC, Nuffield Health and Fitness Gym, Blue Roof community centre, skate park, ten pin bowling centre, motorcycle club and Old Elizabethans Cricket Club.
Notwithstanding being opposite a new primary school to be opened this year and also close to Perdiswell Primary School, both generating some 800 pupils.
I’m sure the flats adjacent to the site and nearby residential properties will be ecstatic with the additional traffic, cooking odours, litter and possible late night opening hours.
McDonald’s will be well pleased and quids in but what about the local community in the vicinity.
It’s the wrong location.
